Me: It's numbing isn't it?
Inner Voice: well it shouldn't be, why do you say that.
Me: because there they are, just there in front of us and nothing.
Inner Voice: what do you mean nothing?
Me: i mean they are still there.
Inner Voice: who?
Me: you know who.
Inner Voice: no, I've not got a clue crazy girl.
Me: people.
Inner Voice: ok.
**pause**
Inner Voice: ok, so let me understand this - you are telling me that they is people?
Me: yes.
Inner Voice: which people?
Me: hungry people.
Inner Voice: well if they are hungry why don't they eat?
Me: they can't, they spent their last change on smack or booze
Inner Voice: what?!?! how could you possibly know this?
Me: well I don't, I'm assuming
Inner Voice: well you shouldn't assume, especially if you have nothing to base it on.
Me: well I do have something to base it on.
Inner Voice: really, care to share?
Me: i said it before
Inner Voice: you're going to have to repeat it, i've forgotten already
*sigh*
Me: they are hungry.
Inner Voice: yes we've established that, they are hungry and they've nothing to eat - how do you know why?
Me: if they didn't spend their money on an addiction they wouldn't be hungry, they wouldn't be cold, they wouldn't seek shelter.
Inner Voice: oh.
**pause**
Inner Voice: what are we meant to do about it?
Me: I don't know, that is why it is so numbing, the more and more i think about things the more irritated i get and then i'm so tired of thinking and being mad i am just numb.
Inner Voice: what things?
Me: human rights.
Inner Voice: human rights? but you have rights.
Me: well certain rights, but not a complete set
Inner Voice: oh, what rights are you missing?
Me: the right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness.
Inner Voice: you spelled happiness wrong.
Me: you're weird.
Inner Voice: you sure can talk
**pause to kick stones**
Inner Voice: this sounds heavy, want to get into right now?
Me: no, i'm too numb.
